Policies/Activities
Homework:
Completed homework packets are due on the last day of each week. Weekly homework includes daily math, AR reading, & one leveled reading comprehension passage with complete sentence responses. The nightly reading requirement of 20 minutes is recorded on the R.E.A.D. log which must be returned weekly in the homework folder for credit. Half credit is provided for late homework returned the first day of the next week. Cursive writing is required for all homework assignments except math.
Math Tests:
Math tests will be scored separately from the chapter vocabulary test. One extra credit point is available if all math vocabulary questions are answered correctly!
Accelerated Reader:
Each student must be reading a book within their reading level range. Labels with the book's reading level, & quiz points are found on the inside cover. Computer quizzes that test comprehension & vocabulary can be taken daily in class. Prizes are awarded in class once the first 10 points are earned by passing quizzes. Then, future prizes are awarded for every 10 points earned! A classroom report is printed each month to award prizes.
Note: Homework passes are available as prizes and excuse one full day of homework assignments, only with parent approval!
Science/Social Studies Extra Credit "Culture Points":
California is such a beautiful and diverse state! Students can earn 10 extra credit points once per trimester toward their History and/or Science grade by visiting any of the following California Cultural sites. Students must bring in a 4x6 picture of themselves at the site and briefly discuss their visit with the class to earn the credit.
